As the KAP Director, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Melissa Monasterio, and I have been involved with CLA since 1995. I started working in the kindergarten wing in 2003. Throughout my time here, I have worked in KAP, taught summer school, and served as a kindergarten reading coach and teacher’s aide. In addition, all four of my daughters, ranging in age from 7 to 22 years old, have graduated or are currently enrolled at CLA. As a result of these experiences and my love for the students, I am very excited to have this opportunity to continue pouring into the lives of your children.
Our KAP staff consists of many wonderful women, whom I believe should be recognized for their faithful commitment to care for children. Mrs. Gina Johnson-Lehman, Mrs. Aurora Petrovici, Mrs. Lidia Trufin, Mrs. Meredith DeRidder and Mrs. Eileen Glad are all looking forward to caring for your children again this year in a loving and compassionate way.
In Christ's service,
Director, Kindergarten Activities Program
All lunch orders must be received by 9:00 am. We have prepaid lunch forms available if you would like to order a week or month in advance, please see Mrs. Monasterio for details. Please send a lunch order if your child is planning on staying with us.
Instead of asking parents to purchase supplies for KAP, our regular KAP students will receive a one time KAP supply fee of $35.00. This fee will automatically be added to your first month's KAP bill. (If you decide to use KAP later in the year this fee will be prorated) As our program has grown, so has our supply list. This one time fee will cover all supplies including: pencils, crayons, markers, glue bottles, glue sticks, tape, scissors, napkins, paper towels, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, paper plates, straws, large and small zip lock baggies, as well as all craft supplies. This fee will also cover snacks on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Q: What activities will my child be able to participate in during a typical day of KAP?
A: All students will be given the opportunity to finish their homework sheets (This does not include reading or other supplemental materials). Throughout the day, students will be able to choose between a variety of stations including art, computer games, toys, and supervised playtime. Each day of the week we will also have a special activity planned for the kids. (Monday - Music, Tuesday - Crafts, Wednesday - Movie, Thursday - Games, Friday - Discovery Day).
Q: Do I have to pay for a full day of KAP if my child is only there for an hour or two?
A: No, you will only be billed for the time that your child is in our care.
Q: Do I pay for K.A.P. the same day of service?
A: No, You will receive a KAP bill mailed to you at the end of each month.
Q: Do I need to let you know if I am planning to send my child to KAP?
A: No, all you need to remember is their lunch. We will take care of the rest.
Q: If I am late to pick up my child where should I go?
A: If you are late to pick up your child (after 3:45) we will automatically escort them to the main cafeteria located under the Grace Gym. They will be signed in, and under the care of our after care department at that time.
Please note: The additional after care fees will be applied to your after care account starting at 3:45.
The KAP program is designed for your convenience. Whether you work full time and need us on a daily basis, or if you need us just once in a while, we are here for you. We realize that things come up unexpectedly and would love nothing more than to help care for your child in a manner that works best for your family.
